Gold and silver prices continue to go from strength to strength, as demonstrated in Greenslade Taylor Hunt’s most recent specialist Jewellery, Silverware and Watch auction.
Not only were the sales the highest yet for the year, but the range and quality of the items on offer, as well as audience attendance, both in person and online, were outstanding.
Among the standout items was an antique 18ct gold fob chain, which stole the spotlight by selling for a solid £1,900.
Two antique gold and gem set brooches also performed strongly, selling for well in excess of their auction guide when the hammer fell at £450.
The auction also witnessed fierce bidding for a stunning pair of high carat gold bangles, which fetched an impressive £1,800. Their unique design and high-quality craftsmanship drew significant interest, showcasing the demand for modern and antique jewellery alike.
Perhaps the highlight of the sale was a pair of 18ct gold open face pocket watches. These comfortably exceeded their pre-sale guide to sell at £2,400, after heated competition from multiple buyers, at The Somerset Salerooms, Sedgemoor Auction Centre, Junction 24, North Petherton.
A rich selection of silver was also presented at the auction, notably a group of flatware, which totalled nearly £6,000. The flourishing demand for domestic silver reflects a growing appreciation for both its aesthetic and intrinsic value, highlighting a renewed interest among collectors.
Deborah Cole, Consultant Valuer noted: “There was strong demand for both modern and antique jewellery, vintage watches and particularly silver, which is at an all time high. This result confirms that selling at auction is the most effective way of achieving the top market value for your precious items.”
The combination of established experience and personal service underscores the success of auctions and solidifies the notion that they provide a trusted way to achieve the best result for selling a wide range of objects.
The next Jewellery, Silverware and Watch sale takes place at Sedgemoor Auction Centre, Junction 24, North Petherton, on Thursday, August 7, from 10.00am.
