In line with our ethos of ‘Working Together to make Taunton Better’, at September’s meeting of our volunteer Executive Committee we were joined by Taunton Street Marshals Nick and Bentley.
As well as having an update from them both regarding the great work they do to welcome and assist visitors to our town centre, to coordinate the business use of the Partners in Crime reporting App (registrations for which Taunton Town Council is currently funding) and to add to the ‘eyes and ears’ on our town centre streets as a deterrent; discussions took place about how Taunton Chamber of Commerce can help them make contact with local secondary schools and colleges, and how our Young Chamber Group might be able to assist with future initiatives.
Whilst no-one has an antidote to some of the issues that face our town centres across the UK, having Street Marshals in place here in Taunton is such a positive step in making Taunton a welcoming place for residents and visitors and supporting our local town centre businesses.
