The Taunton Chamber has been delighted to support the opening of member establishment The Little Wine Shop and Social Wine Bar at Foundry Road, between Coal Orchard and St James Street, at the heart of the newly pedestrianised Taunton Independent Quarter. This exciting venture has at it’s helm French Born Philippe Messy and Londoner Max Palmer, and is offering a unique selection of wines for consumption on and off the premises, alongside platters of the best of the region’s charcuterie, bread and cheese.
The idea for the business was born when Philippe, who had been successfully trading as The Little Wine Shop in Bath Place for a number of years, called up Max with the question “Are you tired of London yet?” Max and Philippe have had a long friendship, having first met when working together as Maitre D’ and Head Sommelier, respectively, at some of Marco Pierre White, Oliver Peyton and Heston Blumental’s award winning establishments.
As well as the delights and ambience already on offer, Max and Philippe have plans to expand the business to include a delicatessen stocking a wide range of locally sourced and produced items, as well as having a ‘Market Table’ which will offer local artisans in the food, art and crafts sector an opportunity to showcase their range.
Coupled with their ‘keep it local’ ethic, Max and Philippe have put the environment at the heart of the business, using a 100% renewable energy supplier and a ‘zero to landfill’ waste management company. Looking to reduce their carbon footprint wherever possible, the pair hope to use allotment and foraged produce on the menu, alongside the best from the South West.
Max and Philippe look forward to welcoming you.
