The Castle Hotel – a message from the Chapman family
For centuries, The Castle at Taunton has been Somerset’s favourite place to meet and make merry.
This year marks our 70th Anniversary as custodians of this historic landmark. Peter Chapman, Kit’s father, Nick’s grandfather, arrived here in the autumn of 1950.
Our hope is to mark that moment with a special celebration on Saturday, 7th November. And you are invited to join the party! A date for your calendars!
Of course, in these days of adversity, none of us has any idea if this happy event will take place. Or, if it does, in what form.
But just as we hope to celebrate our 70th, equally we are deeply conscious of the anxieties and tribulations you, our guests, are enduring at this time. Missing the hugs and smiles of family and friends. Unable to meet for a drink, a coffee or a bite to eat. Plans for birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions abandoned because of the pandemic.
The Castle and BRAZZ have always been convivial places to meet. And this is simply to tell you that we are missing you. Our only wish is to keep the flame alive!
So may we appeal to you to help us? Help us look forward to the day we reopen. And in so doing, set your own tentative date for that abandoned celebration by buying a ‘celebration voucher’ for as much or as little as you wish. Or perhaps purchase one of our gift vouchers by visiting

Whatever you may want to do, you can be sure that all the family and our teams at both The Castle and in BRAZZ look forward to welcoming you back.
Stay safe. Keep well.
With our best wishes,
Kit & Louise, Nick & Annabel
