Taunton based Community Radio Station 97.3 Apple FM is hosting a Prom based evening of music and live DJ sets on Friday 2nd July, to bring a soundtrack to school, college or university students who may have had their annual Proms cancelled because of the Covid outbreak.
Prom Night, will bring together the station’, which is staffed exclusively by volunteers, Friday and Saturday night presenters, demonstrating their DJing skills through a range of party and EDM music as they take over the airwaves between 6pm and 2am, encouraging socially distanced, covid safe private parties in the Taunton Deane area.
Shows such as Amanda Symons Friday Night Mash Up and Adam Mohican’ Sounds 4 The Underground will provide exclusive content, joined by Greg Perkins (Something 4 The Weekend ), Matt Tancock (Altitude) and Jon Hodgson (The Abyss), joining together to provide a unique night of music and entertainment.
The regular presenters will be supplemented with guest mixes from Stockholm based DJ Duo ‘Manyfew’ and young Worcester based producer Emily Nash.
Anchored throughout the evening by Friday Anthems presenter Chris Wareing, he told Radio Today “as a station we wanted to do something for younger people, especially as Prom Nights are a calendar event in the school year, we can imagine the disappointment of these being cancelled. Add to the fact the latest variants seem to be affecting the younger generations more, we wanted to produce something that was Covid safe as well as fun”.
Managing Director Jason Freeman told us “we are extremely excited to be doing Prom Night and we are sure this will be a fantastic evening of entertainment, whoever you are, whatever your age. I can’t thank our voluntary team involved in this enough for making this happen”.
Prom Night will be broadcast on Friday 2nd July between 6pm and 2am on 97.3 Apple FM across Taunton Deane or online across the world onĀ www.applefm.co.uk
