This month, Livvi Grant from Daffodil PR has signed up to the Cancer Research ‘Walk 100 Miles’ challenge to help raise money for the valuable work Cancer Research UK do.
She said: “Sadly, I’m sure there isn’t anyone reading this who hasn’t been affected by cancer in some way, shape or form. Personally, I lost my grandad to cancer a few years ago and have a close friend who is currently battling Stage 3, terminal breast cancer.
I was very shocked to learn that in the UK, it is estimated that 1 in 2 people born after 1960 will be diagnosed with some form of cancer in their lifetime. However, perhaps more shockingly, research also shows that around 4 in 10 UK cancer cases every year could be prevented. I’m sure you’ll agree that however sobering it is – information like this highlights the huge value of the work that charities like Cancer Research do.
I know it is a difficult time for so many at the moment, but I would be hugely grateful if you could make a small donation to the cause. If each of the 177 Taunton Chamber Members donated just £2, we would be able to fund exome sequencing equipment, which helps to find information about our DNA, so Cancer Research’s scientists can find cancer-causing mutations.
