Built with care. Trusted with the things that matter most.
Precious Thoughts was created by people who understand first hand, what it means to lose someone before you are ready and to wish you had more of them. More of their voice. More of their words. This service is not built to scale quickly. It is built to be genuinely useful, genuinely private, and genuinely worthy of what you put inside it. We are a small, dedicated team based in the UK.
Our Story
Here at Precious Thoughts we are a small team of people who have lived life’s experiences, attended numerous funerals, lost family members and therefore fully understand the value and benefits of what is being offered to you.
Having attended many funerals when the allocated family member has tried to read out the eulogy but emotions have got the better of them, is very sad for all concerned. The valuable words and memories about the deceased are lost in this process, which is such a shame.
We have often thought how powerful and moving the ceremony would have been if we could have heard the deceased speak their own eulogy, making it so very memorable and personal.
Our Ethos
Our underlying ethos is to provide a trustworthy, secure and sensitive website for our clients to use, in the comfort of their own home and make it as easy as possible to complete.
Meet the Team
TOM LOMAS
I joined the Avon and Somerset Constabulary in 1988 after a successful career in the Merchant Navy. A big shock to going back to basic training again, but knew I had done the right thing. For most of my police career I was in the Task Force, which became the Support Group. We dealt with an eclectic mix of responsibilities.
I was married with two children, in their twenties, when tragedy struck our family. My wife was visiting her parents in Spain and had a stroke. This was 2013, she was 54 and extremely fit. Thirteen months later she had another stroke and died.
As a Dad, son and daughter we experienced a difficult time. After the funeral my children struggled with the loss of their Mum. If a service like Precious Thoughts had been available that they could have seen and listened to their Mum as often as they wanted, I’m sure it would have assisted their grieving process, Instead of listening to phone messages.
Life goes on and in 2023 I remarried to Elaine. My children are settled in relationships, we even have grandchildren and I’m happy in my life.
Precious Thoughts is our passion as it satisfies a need for our clients which is so important to us. We have attended funerals when Precious Thoughts has been used and the powerful, memorable impact it leaves is tangible.
So interesting when I reflect on my life how heartbreak can bring satisfaction to others, you never know where the journey of life takes you.
ELAINE LOMAS
I have been to a number of funerals over the last few years, some memorable some not so much. I have watched relatives delivering a eulogy which has been lost in the emotion of the occasion. I have thought many times – there has to be a better way. Your funeral is arguably the one and only occasion you will go to that is all about you, why not put your own personal input into it – hence Precious Thoughts was born.
This idea was an itch that I had to scratch. What brought it to a head is when my best and dearest friend of 45 years told me she was dying of pancreatic cancer. Sadly, the site wasn’t ready in time and she passed away.
I am passionate about Precious Thoughts particularly when I see what comfort and peace of mind it brings clients. They write their wills, POA, etc and Precious Thoughts just adds the final peace of the jigsaw. Also, family and friends are relieved of the burden of having to deliver the eulogy.
My personal recording of my eulogy tells my story as I want it remembered, lots of little gems in there that even my sons don’t know about. I leave direct messages to my husband, sons and grandchildren which they will take away with them. I have made it quite funny and light hearted as I am that way in life and they would expect to hear that from me. The photos of ones I have chosen which obviously are the ones which make me look the slimmest not necessarily the ones my husband would choose! Via the QR code which is generated, all the mourners can hear and watch my eulogy as often as they want after the occasion to assist their sadness and hopefully smile a bit– for as long as they want.
