Readers will remember at the recent Taunton Chamber of Commerce Safer Streets meeting, bringing together town centre businesses, Avon and Somerset Police, the Regional Police & Crime Commissioner and Taunton Town Council, that representatives from Taunton Town Council give details of the UK Partners Against Crime initiative, used widely by town and city centre businesses across the UK – see the event write up here: https://www.taunton-chamber.co.uk/news/chamber-of-commerce-unites-local-businesses-and-police-at-safer-streets-meeting/
Taunton Town Council is funding the UK Partners Against Crime initiative for the first 12 months for all town centre organisations.
As an example of effectiveness, the UKPAC model has proven to be highly effective in Dorset, resulting in 196 months of jail time and 29 years and 6 months of CBO time in 2024. These results highlight the system’s potential to significantly reduce crime.
We have received an update from Taunton Town Council that you are now able to sign up for UK PAC and can do so at =
where there is also lots of more in-depth information about the initiative and how it functions. UK PAC is live in Taunton from 1st April, so please sign up as soon as possible.
We can also feedback that since our Safer Streets Taunton meeting, those businesses badly affected by crime and anti-social behaviour have met as a smaller group with Inspector Joe Piscina, with further regular meetings planned.
Please let us know if you feel your own business should be in attendance at these: [email protected]
