Taunton Chamber of Commerce President Richard Holt was delighted to join the delegation from Taunton to Lisieux recently*, as part of the 70th Anniversary celebrations of the twinning relationship, which is the oldest such twinning in the whole of Europe!
Richard was hosted in the home of Director of Business and Management from Normandy University and also had opportunity to spend time with the President of the Lisieux Chamber of Commerce, as well as several cultural outings, the 70th Anniversary formal commemorations and poignant remembrance service for the VE Day 80th anniversary.
Following the visit, which was superbly organised by fellow Taunton Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee member Liz Payne-Ahmadi, we will be working with Taunton businesses and colleges to explore links and exchange programmes for English students to businesses in Normandy, and opportunities for both towns to enjoy the products created by the other. *Please note that Richard, alongside the other members of the visit group, self-funded the trip, no public or Chamber of Commerce monies were used.
