The Skills Support for the Workforce programme (SSW) is here to help small & medium businesses in Somerset to access funded training and qualifications to upskill their employees and help their business grow.
There are 100s of courses on offer including IT & Digital skills, Leadership & Management, Business Administration, Customer Service and many more. We will work with you to identify your business’ training needs to support your business goals.
We can support current employees who need to upskill, employees on furlough that are returning to work, or new recruits that need training.
So far over 400 employees from 150 businesses have benefitted from the programme in Somerset.
Skills Support for Redundancy (SSR) is an initiative designed to support employers and individuals affected by redundancy. The SSR programme ensures that employees facing redundancy or those who have recently been made redundant, get access to bespoke training and careers guidance, to support them to find suitable employment.
The SSR programme supported staff at Debenhams Taunton to improve their employability prospects through a bespoke training package. Clare Filer, Taunton Store Manager, says:
“Serco have been a great support in helping to arrange training for the team, even in these very unique circumstances of having to do everything virtually. Having spoken to many members of the store team, I know that quite a few have made contact with someone from the team, and the feedback has been that you guys are so friendly and helpful, so thank you!”
Both SSW and SSR are co-financed by the Education and Skills Funding Agency and the European Social Fund, so businesses can access a wide range of funded training.
