Congratulations to Gerry Barge at our members The Castle at Taunton on this wonderful recognition of your many years of service – it was an honour to join you on Friday as you received your Institute of Hospitality ‘Hearts in Hospitality’ certificate, pin and membership.
Max Lawrence FIH MTMI: “Hearts in Hospitality was created by the Institute of Hospitality in June 2023 as a way of recognising and rewarding the many unsung heroes across our industry. People who delight and amaze their guests, teams, visitors, customers on an ongoing basis, and who deserve a special thank you.
Today, we are delighted to recognise Gerry Barge who has been awarded the Institute’s Hearts in Hospitality Award for going above and beyond in his role as Breakfast Chef at the Castle Hotel in Taunton.
Gerry was nominated by Ronan Hunter for his dedication to his team and craft over the past 48 years. Alongside creating an experience for guests, and ensuring every plate exudes the same level of care and precision, Gerry’s positive attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to embrace change have endured. Gerry has also shown generosity of spirit on mentoring young chefs, helping them hone their skills and passions, and being a role model for the profession. Gerry has been a source of inspiration not only to his colleagues but to Castle Hotel guests.
As you can imagine, after reading this nomination, the judging panel were in no doubt that Gerry was indeed an exceptional winner.
So, it is my absolute pleasure to award Gerry Barge with this Hearts in Hospitality certificate and badge in recognition of his achievements, along with one years membership of the Institute.
A huge congratulations Gerry on winning this very special Heart”
