Apple FM, Taunton’s long‑established award winning community radio station, is appealing for support from local businesses and organisations as it searches for a new home within the town.
Broadcasting on **97.3FM**, online, and via smart speakers, Apple FM has served the people of Taunton and the wider Somerset community for decades. The station has operated from studios within Musgrove Park Hospital for many years, starting as Taunton Hospital Radio and has been part of the hospital community for over 55 years.
Due to increasing pressures on NHS space and the hospital’s need to prioritise clinical areas, Apple FM has been formally notified that it must vacate its current studio facilities. As a volunteer‑run station, Apple FM is now urgently seeking a minimum of two rooms, ideally a third room for storage of technical audio equipment, preferably self-contained but with access to WC’s and accessible 24/7 365 days and within Taunton to continue delivering its service to listeners.
“Apple FM has been part of the fabric of Musgrove Park Hospital for generations, supporting patients, staff, and the wider community. While we fully understand the pressures the NHS is facing, we are now reaching out to the people of Taunton for help in securing a new base so we can continue broadcasting for many years to come said Greg Perkins, Managing Director”
The station is inviting local businesses, organisations, community groups, or property owners who may be able to offer space – or advise on potential locations – to get in touch.
Anyone who can help is encouraged to contact the station at [email protected] or call 01823 781 973 followed by Option 1
