On Thursday 1st December, Exmoor search and rescue Team welcomed Chief Inspector Mark Sweeney from the Police National Search Centre (PNSC) to our Rescue Centre to present a Police Search Governance Board – Lifetime Achievement Award to Team Member Phil, in recognition of the significant contribution he’s made to Search Management with Exmoor Search & Rescue Team, and the Peninsula Mountain and Cave Rescue Association throughout his twenty-five years of service within Mountain Rescue England and Wales.
Phil is one of the longest serving Team Members within Exmoor Search & Rescue Team and for the majority of that time, Phil has served as a Search Manager. For many years he has, been the Teams lead for Search Management; he’s provided a depth and breadth of knowledge which has enabled him to assist, guide and advise on search strategy alongside colleagues from the Police and partner agencies.
Phil’s experience and knowledge is highly regarded by his peers within Mountain Rescue England & Wales, and within the partner agencies with which we frequently work. Whilst celebrating Phil’s twenty-five years of service with Exmoor Search & Rescue Team and Mountain Rescue England & Wales, a Police Search Advisor commented that “regardless of the time or nature of the call, he (Phil) was always happy and positive and able to provide me with a reassurance that the Team would be there to help”… he went on to say “I always felt that his knowledge, enthusiasm and professionalism spread through the Team and was key to the many successful missions, as well as those that didn’t end as wished”.
A huge congratulations to Phil, and thank you for everything you’ve done, and continue to do for the Team.
